Court Rules in Vienna Convention on Consular Relations Case, But No Decision Today on Hamdan
Jun-28-06 10:21 am
Lyle Denniston of the SCOTUSblog reports from the Supreme Court today that the Court has issued a decision on the consolidated cases of Sanchez-Llamas v. Oregon and Bustillo v. Johnson:
In a ruling written by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., the Court concluded that states may bar foreign nationals from raising the issue of their treaty rights to talk with a consular officer , if they did not raise that issue at trial.
An analysis of the case will follow in another post once the opinion has been posted on the Court's website.

But the Court did not issue its opinion in Hamdan v. Rumsfed. Denniston believe that decision will come either tomorrow or Friday.
