Fall 2008 Message from the Vice President
Dec-9-08 10:00 am
Dear Parents and Friends,
December is a busy and festive month on our campus. Our new students are feeling truly at home here and are experiencing the whirl of final projects and exams for the first time. Hundreds of students will take a break for their studies for a Midnight Breakfast served by administrators and faculty. Many sophomores are considering study abroad options, while others are deciding on the major that fits best for them. Our seniors are exploring career options and applying to graduate programs and service opportunities. Our fall athletic teams are wrapping up their seasons, and men’s and women’s basketball are just getting launched. Student performing arts groups are wrapping up a busy round of late-semester concerts and plays. It is a time of summing up, and preparing for the joyful holidays ahead.
In the midst of this, we continue striving to provide our students with the best possible support, services, and programs to build a wonderful Georgetown experience. In this issue of our newsletter, you will learn about our new Magis Row living option for upperclass students, an innovative theater course that engages students in the city, the WAGE fellowship that creates opportunities for women students, and recognition we’ve received for our comprehensive approach to student culture and alcohol use. Thank you again for your interest in life on the Hilltop, and for all your support for your students. Best wishes to you and your family in this season of hope and celebration.
Sincerely,
Todd A. Olson, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs
and Dean of Students
